Equestrian Style Custom Home

This custom hybrid home was designed with a decided equestrian flair. The taller center section is flanked on each side with a shed-row appearance giving a low profile coupled with a high cathedral ceiling throughout.

The addition of the covered entryway provided an architectural relief to the front elevation while adding an foyer and closet to the interior.

The floor plan includes three-bedroom and two baths. The home will be situationed on the brink of a hillside high in the mountains near White Sulpher Springs, Montana. The daylight basement maximizes the view on both levels.

Rustic aesthetics are added with the exterior Douglas Fir trusses, posts, and railing. The square footage of this home is doubled through the full basement.

This home is currently under construction. We will be sharing progress photos as the home progresses. This location is seasonal access only so the building project will span two summers.

Twelve Months Later

As previously mentioned, this project is located at a high elevation with seasonal access only. Twelve months later this home is almost complete.

The windows for this home are a Sierra Pacific Fiberglass solution with dark brown frames. The window are a combination of stationary picture windows, stationary trapezoids, and double open casement.

The siding is a two-tone vinyl that mimics a board-and-batten pattern. Darker brown trim pieces are used to articulate the sides, corners, and edges of the door and window opening. The back deck is treated lumber with wooden railing (which is not yet completed).

This design has a great room located through the center of the house with the bedroom wings to each side. The high cathedral ceiling and clerestory windows give upwards height to this space. The ceilings are finished with 1×6 tongue and groove blue pine and the floors are hardwood.

The kitchen has solid wood cabinets with hard-surface countertops. The handles, draw pulls, and faucet are matte black.

Moving into the master bedroom, note the large expanse of windows. The ceiling has a steep slope, as is indicated by the outside elevation.

The master bath is a large tile shower and a bathtub. The interior doors are a solid wood rustic barn-door style.

The rustic feel is also carried over to the door and window trim with the wide top board and exposed metal brackets.

We would like to thank the homeowners and Master’s Electric and Construction, the general contractors for this project, for sharing their journey with us.
